On the actual day of it's 20th anniversary, eBay sailed a giant birthday cake down the Thames. Setting off in Stratford, the
12 meter tall cake travelled down the river and back before lighting up the night sky. In an additional social media push,
eBay encouraged Twitter users to post their dream birthday
wish – to be in with  a chance of winning it.

Continuing the momentum of eBay’s 20th anniversary after the two-day summit in San Jose, we launched a special shopping event called ‘20 Days of Deals’ that travelled to a new city in the US each day. In a specially branded Airstream trailer bought on eBay, customers were able to try out and buy top selling products in person, all for the special one-off price of $20.
